AGComplaint08-12-06 I have moved from Tucson, AZ to an area with no Gold’s Gyms, and have tried to cancel my membership in several different ways. The most recent was another phone call. I have sent a certified letter requesting the cancellation. My debit card had a fraud detection alert and my bank immediately canceled the card and issued another with a different account number. This was all about the same time I moved. With moving these things do have a way of being lost in the shuffle. My initial call to the Local Gold’s Gym was to cancel and the person I spoke with said no problem she would cancel the membership effective immediately and for me to send in the letter. I will admit with the move my letter was late, however my contract had been fulfilled and there were no more time constraints on the account. I am having a very difficult time understanding why this has gotten to this point. I liked the gym and planned on joining again once I had the opportunity, meaning when one moved into my area. Well they won! I tried to resolve the situation and the just threatened to send me to collections. Imagine that. They would rather go that route then to address their shortcomings. When I first started to resolve the situation and since the end there have been 3 or 4 people in the credit department in Tucson. I imagine that is a lovely place to work! Oh well thanks for the misery Gold’s Gym. For what it is worth I will never patronize your establishments again!
